  • TRYT Engineering Inc. which provides placement and temporary staffing services in the construction industry, a subsidiary of TRYT Inc. (Tokyo Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Osaka City, Osaka; President and Representative Director, CEO: Hidetaka Sasai), launched the Career Support Project for Construction Personnel to support the acquisition of construction-related qualifications by its temporary employees on June 3, 2024. Through this initiative, TRYT Engineering aims to help solve various issues facing the construction industry, which suffers from a severe labor shortage.

The average number of people employed in the construction industry was reported to be 4.79 million as of 2022, showing a decrease of approximately 2 million from the peak of 6.85 million in 1997.* Furthermore, the labor shortage has become even more serious due to the cap on overtime hours that came into effect in April 2024. This makes securing and retaining personnel an urgent issue.

Against this background, TRYT Engineering began a trial program in August 2023 to support temporary employees in obtaining construction-related qualifications, and has been considering initiatives to help develop and produce construction personnel through reskilling. Under this newly launched Project, a dedicated team of experts has been established to not only help temporary employees obtain qualifications, but also support their mid- to long-term career planning.

Under this project, participants can obtain qualifications such as construction managing engineer, building environment and health management engineer, and fire defense equipment officer through e-learning and online classes. Any temporary employee can take the course, and those who pass the test will receive a pay increase due to their newly-earned qualification. In addition, the company will provide reimbursement of the exam costs and a congratulatory cash gift for passing the exam.

TRYT Engineering will continue to expand its measures to help temporary employees obtain qualifications by partnering with on-campus schools for qualification exams and increasing the number of target qualifications. Through these efforts, TRYT Engineering will support the career advancement of temporary employees and contribute to improving productivity at construction sites.
