BRIGHTVIE and Future Care Lab in Japan to Display a Mock App as a Reference Exhibit
2024.07.31
PR—“Elderly Care through 2030 and Beyond”: What care records are needed by the industry?
BRIGHTVIE Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nagoya City, Aichi, CEO: Tomokazu Iida; hereinafter “BRIGHTVIE”), a group company of TRYT Inc., a leading placement company and digital solutions provider for the medical and welfare industries, will exhibit a mock app*1 under the theme of “Elderly care records*2 that the staff do not record—Minimizing work hours spent on recording” in the future elderly care business model “Elderly Care through 2030 and Beyond.” This business model will be exhibited from September 2, 2024 at “Future Care Lab in Japan,” a living lab run by SOMPO Care Inc. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Takamitsu Washimi; hereinafter “SOMPO Care”), which aims to create a new approach to elderly care through a symbiosis of humans and technology. This app was jointly developed by BRIGHTVIE and Future Care Lab in Japan with the aim of discussing with people involved in the elderly care industry about what care records are truly needed by the industry.
*1 A mock app refers to a test application used primarily to check visual and navigation elements.
*2 It is required by the Japan’s Long-Term Care Insurance Act.
■ Background of the joint development
Since BRIGHTVIE and Future Care Lab in Japan announced in November 2021 that they would jointly build a new data integration platform for elderly care, they have held repeated discussions on what kind of ICT is needed in elderly care facilities.
Reference (Japanese only): Launch of the joint development of a new data integration platform for elderly care (November 25, 2021)
In the course, we have been discussing the true nature of elderly care records, such as “Who are care records for?” and “Is the recorded content excessive?” Against this background, for the exhibition of a model for “Elderly Care through 2030 and Beyond,” organized by Future Care Lab in Japan, we have jointly set the theme “Elderly care records that the staff do not record—Minimizing work hours spent on recording.”
■ Features of the exhibition
The app has been developed after interviewing several care workers as to “What are care record items that are truly needed in elderly care facilities?” It includes automatic recording system using sensor and other data, with an eye toward minimizing the work hours spent on recording. We hope that the reference exhibition of this mock app for “Elderly Care through 2030 and Beyond” will spark discussion on “what care records are truly needed in elderly care facilities.”
In order to support the creation of a working environment where care workers want to continue working, BRIGHTVIE provides “Care Data Connect,” a data integration platform for elderly care, and “Carez Connect,” an ICT solution for elderly care aimed at creating a working environment where care workers want to continue working, centered on attendance management. BRIGHTVIE will continue to strive to create sustainable elderly care environments in order to resolve issues faced by elderly care facilities.
[Elderly Care through 2030 and Beyond]
At Future Care Lab in Japan, we believe that what is extremely important for elderly care facilities is not so much “what technology should be introduced” but “why we should introduce it.”
This time, with the theme of the near future, 2030, we will exhibit four models that we have developed together with our collaborative partners as a way to provide an opportunity to think together about what kind of elderly care facilities we would like to have in the year 2030.
We would like to hear the views of elderly care providers who visit the exhibition on what they think about these models.

[BRIGHTVIE Co., Ltd.]
With the mission of “creating a working environment where care workers want to continue working,” BRIGHTVIE Co., Ltd. aims to create a comfortable working environment for elderly care staff by providing ICT services that are truly needed in elderly care facilities. Through “Care Data Connect,” a data integration platform that supports the acquisition, linkage, analysis, and use of device data in elderly care and medical care, and “Carez Connect,” a communication ICT system for elderly care, designed with the goal of retaining staff in elderly care facilities, it will support streamlining of elderly care operations and reducing the burden on elderly care staff, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of nursing care.
[Future Care Lab in Japan]
Established by Sompo Care Inc. in 2019, Future Care Lab in Japan is a research institute for technology related to elderly care and welfare. In order to resolve issues in the research, development, and implementation of elderly care technology, it has conducted empirical evaluation of elderly care technology and has supported companies in developing such technology. Thus, it has served as a living lab that acts as a hub for technology development companies and elderly care providers to co-create technologies that can be used in elderly care facilities. It will continue to develop technologies that can be used to improve the lives of both caregivers and care recipients in response to the needs of elderly care facilities and will continue to contribute to the creation of sustainable and attractive business models for elderly care services.
